Surgery

The veterinarians at Cooper Veterinary Hospital bring their knowledge and expertise in surgical procedures to pet owners in West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, and the surrounding areas. We perform routine surgical services including:

  • Pyometro
  • Cystotomy
  • Bone Plates & ACL repair & Luxating Patella
  • Dental surgery

Our doctors will conduct an evaluation to determine if surgery is the best option for your pet’s condition. If surgery is deemed necessary, our experienced veterinarians and staff will take the utmost care of your pet and treat it as our own. Since every pet is unique, we complete a pre-surgical assessment so that we can screen for any abnormalities or conditions that may be problematic.

We understand that anesthesia is scary. It’s very common for people to be concerned, especially when their older pet needs a procedure. To ensure your pet’s safety, we will use the information from our evaluations and take into consideration your pet’s species, breed, age, and health to create an anesthetic protocol best suited to your pet. We use a PM-9000 Vet to monitor vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and ECG; we also use an IV catheter to administer medications.

Once the surgery is complete, your pet will be brought out of anesthesia and our staff will continue to monitor vital signs and pain levels. We will keep your pet on site where our veterinarians can supervise the recovery until your pet is well enough to go home with you. All surgeries are followed up with a post-surgical examination and rehabilitation if needed.

At Cooper Veterinary Hospital, we truly believe that the combination of our experience, advanced surgical care, patient monitoring of vital signs and pain levels throughout all stages of surgery and recovery, in addition to healing treatments, such as laser therapy, offer your pet the best chance for surgical success.

Whether your pet is of the age to be spayed or neutered or needs a different surgical procedure, the veterinarians and staff at Cooper Veterinary Hospital are here for you. Contact us today for more information.

What Our Clients Say

  • “The staff here are incredible. Everyone who works in the front are professional and so nice. Our German Shepherd gets really stressed, and the vet assistant was super patient and great with him. He got to see Dr. Halley, and she is really caring and explained everything thoroughly. I highly recommend this veterinary hospital."

  • “Cooper Veterinary Hospital is the only place in this area that handles international health certifications for pets, and they are excellent at it. They were incredibly responsive and proactive throughout the entire process. Special thanks to Dr. Halley and Madelyn, who went above and beyond to ensure my cat was cared for during our international travel. I cannot recommend them highly enough!!!”

    Ainslee J.
  • “This was my first visit, and I really liked the vet. Dr. Bass is great, and so is Caleb, the vet tech. My dog has arthritis and can't be picked up. Dr. Bass and Caleb got on the floor with him! They are very kind and patient, and the costs are reasonable for a first visit.”

  • ”I came through their door on a Friday at closing time(yall know how ready you are to leave work at that time) with my beardie that was sick. I'd been in a panic because my local vet shrugged my baby off saying he was fine so I had to rush after work and drive an hour and a half to the closest exotic vet who denied seeing us(understandable as it was closing time) So I headed to Cooper praying that they would help. This office was kind and really took the time to listen to me and examine Pablo. I never felt rushed. They were very thorough with questions as well as explaining the medicines we were given and was sure to tell us not to hesitate to call them if I needed to. I'll forever make this drive from here out. Knowing that my baby really mattered to them makes it all worth it.”
