Rehabilitation

Cooper Veterinary Hospital provides physical rehabilitation services for pets in West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, Sterlington, Oak Grove, and everywhere in between. The field of veterinary rehabilitation has made tremendous strides in recent years in therapy techniques and practices. In the past, pets may have experienced a diminished quality of life due to physical impairments resulting from injury, surgery, or a degenerative condition such as arthritis. Now, pets who have suffered these same conditions are seeing great improvement thanks to rehabilitative services.

We are dedicated to relieving pain, promoting healing, and bringing as much quality of life as possible to our patients. Recent research has shown that the least effective treatment for injury is excessive rest. Therefore, rehabilitation efforts concentrate on stimulating the injured area using various treatments that increase circulation, promote healing, reduce inflammation, and reduce pain.

Our goals are to heal and restore full range of movement and strength to injured body parts and to increase functionality. Our rehabilitation services include non-invasive treatments such as massage, stretching, and physical exercise. These treatments help accomplish an increased range of motion throughout your pet’s joints, decreased pain where they are sore, and increased flexibility.

In addition to our rehabilitation sessions at the clinic, we provide pet parents with guidelines to continue at-home care.

The types of issues and conditions that may benefit from rehabilitation services include:
  • Pain relief
  • Post-surgical recovery
  • Amputation
  • Disk disease
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Sports injuries
  • Ligament tears
  • Trauma
  • Obesity

If your pet has had an illness or injury, keep in mind that rehabilitation is most effective when it begins as soon as possible after the traumatic event. If your pet has had an issue that requires rehabilitation services, call the caring team at Cooper Veterinary Hospital, and let us get your pet on the road to recovery.

What Our Clients Say

  • “The staff here are incredible. Everyone who works in the front are professional and so nice. Our German Shepherd gets really stressed, and the vet assistant was super patient and great with him. He got to see Dr. Halley, and she is really caring and explained everything thoroughly. I highly recommend this veterinary hospital."

  • “Cooper Veterinary Hospital is the only place in this area that handles international health certifications for pets, and they are excellent at it. They were incredibly responsive and proactive throughout the entire process. Special thanks to Dr. Halley and Madelyn, who went above and beyond to ensure my cat was cared for during our international travel. I cannot recommend them highly enough!!!”

  • “This was my first visit, and I really liked the vet. Dr. Bass is great, and so is Caleb, the vet tech. My dog has arthritis and can't be picked up. Dr. Bass and Caleb got on the floor with him! They are very kind and patient, and the costs are reasonable for a first visit.”

  • ”I came through their door on a Friday at closing time(yall know how ready you are to leave work at that time) with my beardie that was sick. I'd been in a panic because my local vet shrugged my baby off saying he was fine so I had to rush after work and drive an hour and a half to the closest exotic vet who denied seeing us(understandable as it was closing time) So I headed to Cooper praying that they would help. This office was kind and really took the time to listen to me and examine Pablo. I never felt rushed. They were very thorough with questions as well as explaining the medicines we were given and was sure to tell us not to hesitate to call them if I needed to. I'll forever make this drive from here out. Knowing that my baby really mattered to them makes it all worth it.”
